About the authors

Cody Ibarra, PT, DPT is originally from Southern California, has B.A. is Sociology from UC Santa Barbara, and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Columbia University. Cody has trained in martial arts including karate, kickboxing, judo and jiujitsu since childhood and has a deep love of dance.


Mændy Mac is an athlete and pole coach diagnosed with hEDS who has been working with dancers in the pole and aerial industry for over 20 years. This document is a compilation of research from medical journals, case studies, and lived experience. While pole dancers with hypermobility will have different needs in pole class, the goal of this document is to help coaches understand this condition that affects many athletes and assist hypermobile dancers safely through their pole journey
